San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies recovered evidence of counterfeiting and identity theft associated with forged checks and credit cards during a search of a home in San Bernardino on Monday afternoon, Nov. 20, according to a sheriff’s news release.
Investigators believe the six suspects who were arrested conspired to defraud local businesses and victims of their money, goods and services. A gun reported stolen in Riverside also was found.
On Monday morning, a deputy located a 1996 Acura that had been stolen in Loma Linda in front of a residence in the 900 block of East Second Street, officials said in the release. Knowing that the tenants next door were on felony probation, he decided to conduct a search there as allowed under the terms of their probation, the release said.
The news release said the suspects — five from San Bernardino and one from Mentone — were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, identity theft, forgery, possession of stolen property and other felonies.
As of Monday evening, four of the six were listed in booking logs, which showed they were arrested on suspicion of participation in a criminal street gang, identity theft and conspiracy.
