Winchester house fire spreads to half acre of vegetation

A fire at a residence in the 28000 block of Whittier Avenue north of Winchester Road in Winchester spread to a half-acre of vegetation Wednesday night, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 8:03 p.m., burning a residence, outbuildings and vehicles, but by 9:04 p.m. firefighters stopped the forward spread of the fire.

There were no evacuations or injuries. County fire’s hazardous materials team also was called to the scene.
