The crash was at 1:17 p.m. at Jackson Street and Audrey Avenue, Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff DeLaurie said.

“Riverside firefighters utilized extrication equipment to cut the car away from the patients,” DeLaurie said. “All four patients had critical injuries and were transported to area hospitals. All patients appeared to be in their 20s.”

None of the four patients was wearing seat belts, he added.

A fifth patient from a separate vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene, DeLaurie said.
