A body found near Box Springs Mountain is that of a Riverside woman reported missing Wednesday, and police revealed Friday that the man arrested in connection to her death is her son.
The body of Mica Maddock, 51, was found Thursday near Gernert and Pettegrew roads, officials said.
“The suspect is the son of Mrs. Maddock, and the location where her deceased body was found is an area known to (be frequented) by the suspect,” a police statement said.
Aaron Aubrey, 24, was arrested after he was found driving his mother’s car in the Corona area.
A possible motive for the death has not been released.
Maddock’s live-in boyfriend called police early Wednesday morning to report Maddock missing when he returned to their home in the 5800 block of Fair Isle Drive.
He told officers he’d last seen her the night before and grew concerned when she didn’t answer her phone or show up for work that morning, police said.
Officers found Aubrey driving his mother’s car and arrested him initially on suspicion of auto theft, identity theft and parole violations.
The offense of suspicion of murder was added after Maddock’s body was found, police said.
