The non-injury blaze was reported at 1:50 p.m. along Foothill Avenue, just south of Orange Avenue, in the Nuevo area east of the Perris city limits, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Thirteen engine crews and two inmate hand crews, numbering about 80 personnel, deployed to the location, supported by a Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter that made multiple runs on the fire.
No homes or other structures were threatened.
The fire burned into rugged terrain, making it difficult for crews to encircle it, according to reports from the scene. However, by 6 p.m., the blaze was fully contained.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
