This fall the Riverside Woman’s Club collected 1,805 bras in its annual donation drive for Free the Girls, an international organization that helps survivors of sex trafficking.

The club recently sent 31 boxes of donated bras to Free the Girls’ Indiana headquarters, where they will be processed and sent to various countries, according to a press release. One way Free the Girls helps survivors of sex trafficking return to independence is by providing them with new and gently used bras to sell in secondhand markets in countries including Uganda and El Salvador.

The Riverside Woman’s Club began its annual donation drive for Free the Girls in September, and this fall the club collected 100 more bras than it brought in last year.

Judith Glenn and Katherine Williams are co-chairmen of International Outreach for the club.
