Riverside man arrested in Highgrove slaying that occurred 2 months ago

A 19-year-old Riverside man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting two months ago of an unidentified boy in Highgrove, authorities said Monday

Adrian Barroso was taken into custody Monday, Dec. 2, in connection with the shooting in the 1300 block of Center Street, in the county area just north of Riverside. He was in custody on $1 million bond Tuesday at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

Court records early Tuesday afternoon showed he had not yet been charged.

Sheriff’s homicide investigators began looking into the case the evening of Oct. 3, when deputies were called to the scene because of a reported shooting. They found two wounded people. One, described only as male, was hospitalized with wounds.

Earlier reports said a third person had minor injuries.

The boy died at the scene. He has not been identified by authorities, including by his age and hometown.

The investigation is still active, and anyone with information about it is asked by deputies to call 760-393-3526 or 951-955-2777.
