An airplane crashed and burned at Corona Municipal Airport early Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 22, according to the Corona Police Department.
The crash was reported at 12:11 p.m. on the east side of the airport. The plane was found on fire in the brush. Firefighters were searching for the occupants, police said.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash or injuries or a description of the plane. The California Highway Patrol said on its Riverside office frequency that a pilot had broadcast a mayday call.
The airport has been shut down.
Today about 12:11 P.M. The Corona Fire Department and Corona Police officers responded to the Corona Airport regarding a airplane crash. Upon arrival personnel located one plane on fire in the brush. Our fire personnel are working on extinguishing aircraft and brush.
