Flames scorched vegetation in the area of Camelot Drive, near homes along Wabash Avenue, Redlands Fire Department officials said on social media. The fire was reported at about 4 p.m. It burned about nine acres before firefighters from the Redlands, Loma Linda and San Bernardino County Fire Departments, as well as CalFire, managed to contain it.

Crews on the ground doused the blaze with water while aircraft dropped payloads of bright red flame retardant from above. It took them about an hour to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters remained in the area well into Monday evening to monitor for hot spots. The cause of the fire was under investigation Tuesday.
