1 killed, 2 hurt in Mead Valley hit-and-run



MEAD VALLEY — One person was killed and two others were injured in a hit-and-run Sunday night in Mead Valley and police were searching for the driver, according to authorities.

The crash happened in the 20790 block of Markham Street, near Hallett Street, about 9:15 p.m., according to Cal Fire Riverside and the California Highway Patrol’s Riverside office.

One person died at the scene, a second suffered serious injuries and a third had moderate injuries, Cal Fire Riverside reported. The department sent two engines and ambulances to the scene.

The deceased’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin. There was no immediate word on the gender or age of the victims.

The driver fled the scene and authorities were searching for a tan or black 2000s-model SUV missing the front grill and a headlight, according to the CHP.
