Rams LB Jachai Polite goes on COVID-19 reserve list

The Rams placed outside linebacker Jachai Polite, a member of their practice squad, on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday.

The list is for players who test positive for the coronavirus or were exposed to an infected person.

Polite, a third-round draft pick from Florida by the New York Jets in 2019, recorded one sack but played mostly on special teams in 11 games with the Rams this season before being waived Dec. 3 and signed to the practice squad.

He’s the only Rams player currently on the COVID list, but the fourth since the start of the season for a team that has been relatively unscathed by the pandemic.

The other three are practice-squad players who went on the COVID list Nov. 18, raising concerns that prompted coach Sean McVay to cancel a day of practice. Those players – wide receiver J.J. Koski, center Kendall Blanton and safety Jake Gervase – returned to practice within five to 10 days.
