Bicyclist killed by hit-and-run driver in Riverside intersection

A hit-and-run driver fatally struck a bicyclist at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Colorado Avenue and Jackson Street in Riverside.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was riding in a dedicated bike lane southbound on Jackson when the motorist slammed into him, Sgt. Matt Lewis said.

“The passing vehicle slowed, but fled the scene,” Lewis said.

Police asked that anyone with information about the collision to call them at 951-826-8723.
