Boy killed by vehicle in Pine Cove

MOUNTAIN CENTER — A boy was killed by a vehicle in the unincorporated community of Pine Cove on Sunday, March 14.

The child was struck about 2:50 p.m. in the 52500 block of Sylvan Way, west of Highway 243 and north of Mountain Center, the California Highway Patrol reported. An air ambulance was initially requested and paramedics on the ground performed CPR on the boy while the helicopter was en route, according to a CHP log.

However, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office was later called to the scene.

Information on the circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately available.

The age of the boy was not immediately disclosed.
