Riverside County man found dead in Lake Gregory is identified

The man who died after going under the waters of Lake Gregory in Crestline on Tuesday, July 11, was Wayne Kizler, 45, according to a San Bernardino County coroner’s release.

Kizler was swimming in Lake Gregory with his son and was witnessed going under a little after 1 p.m., according to a San Bernardino County coroner’s release. He did not resurface. He was found dead a little more than an hour later near the dam.

Authorities said at the time of his death that the victim was a Wildomar resident. The coroner listed his hometown as Riverside.

Kizler, a father of four, had been a media/production director for Crossroads Church, which has a location in Temecula, according to the church’s website.

He had previously been involved in youth ministry at Elsinore First Assembly and was later part of a street ministry that traveled through Southern California, according to the church’s website. Attempts to reach church leaders for comment this week were unsuccessful.
